Marvel's Spider-Man is an action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and Released by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4, based on the Marvel Comics superhero Spider-Man.

Released on September 7, 2018, it's the first licensed game manufactured by Insomniac. The game tells a story about Spider-Man which isn't tied to an existing book, video game, or film, and covers both Peter Parker and facets of the personality.

Spider-Man was well received upon launch. Critics called it one of the greatest superhero games praising particularly the battle its gameplay and web-swinging mechanics, images, narrative, characterization, and style of new york, though felt it lacked invention in its own design that was open-world. The match turned into a commercial success, selling 3.3 million copies in its first 3 days of release, and bankrupt several sales records.

Spider-Man features a large ensemble cast of characters from Spider-Man comics' background. Peter Parker (voiced by Yuri Lowenthal) is a 23-year old research assistant, who profits superhuman abilities after being bitten by a genetically-modified spider. Employing a secret identity, Parker uses these skills to protect the taxpayers of New York City since the superhero Spider-Man. Eight years into his superhero career, Parker has become an masterful and experienced crime fighter, but struggles to balance personal lives and his superhero. He is aided in his struggle by intrepid Daily Bugle reporter Mary Jane Watson (Laura Bailey), his ex-girlfriend, also NYPD Captain Yuri Watanabe (Tara Platt). Parker is employed by his mentor and friend, the respected scientist Spiderman Dr. Otto Octavius (William Salyers). Spider-Man's experience brings him into contact with different characters, including Miles Morales (Nadji Jeter) along with his parents, NYPD Officer Jefferson Davis (Russell Richardson) and Rio Morales (Jacqueline Pinol), OsCorp CEO along with New York mayor Norman Osborn (Mark Rolston), and Silver Sablinova (Nichole Elise), leader of the private military company Sable International.

The mission to guard the city of spider-Man brings him into conflict with several supervillains. The narrative opens with Spider-Man taking down his longtime foe Wilson Fisk (Travis Willingham), the Kingpin of crime in New York. Fisk is delivered to prison, but cautions that he had been the sole person. Fisk's lack gives rise to some supernaturally powered, demonic-mask wearing gang called the Demons who start dividing the city for the strong Mr. Side, who will corrupt individuals through his touch.

Several other characters--such as Parker's and Watson's childhood friend Harry Osborn (Scott Porter), who's disappeared on a long European vacation, and anti-Spider-Man podcast host J. Jonah Jameson (Darin de Paul) have voice characters in the main game. The game features several references such as the Sanctum Sanctorum, the Wakandan Embassy, Avengers Tower, Murdock & Nelson Attorneys at Law, Rand Corporation, and Alias Investigations. The game's downloadable material features appearances by master-thief Black Cat (Erica Lindbeck) (who has a voice-only function in the main game), and Hammerhead (Keith Silverstein), leader of the Maggia crime family.
